The Move: 1996
Pastors Zachery Tims was sent out by his Pastor in Baltimore, Maryland to begin a work in Orlando. This move was one of great faith as Dr. Tims and his family left behind a lucrative job, a luxurious home, and a high ranking position in the Ministry that they attended. As they were chosen, they prayed and under the direction of the Holy Spirit they were relocated to Orlando. God had given them a vision to build "A Family Church Meeting Family Needs."
The First Service: June, 1996
On the 3rd Sunday in June of 1996, New Destiny Christian Center held its first service in a hotel. The charter members of the church: Marla Arrington, Lawrence and Ada Barrett, Renee Pitt, and Geri Shand all joined the Pastor in obedience to God and relocated from Maryland to help this young Pastor begin this great work in Orlando, FL. Pastor Tims and his members knew that it would take lots of hard work to reach so many lost souls, so they went to work on the highways and byways. They began a Ministry that was based on outreach as its cornerstone, feeding the lost at any cost. God rewarded their faithfulness and the Ministry was able to move from the hotel into a storefront facility.
The Growth: May, 1999
As the Ministry began to grow, God planted another vision into the heart of the Pastor to purchase the first building. It seemed like a move that was too big for such a young church, but they stepped out on faith and began a building fund campaign in May of 1999.
The members rallied behind the Pastor and over one short summer, the young church was able to raise enough money to purchase a church building on 14 acres of land. The Sanctuary seated 800 and contained a fellowship hall, many classrooms, and even a gymnasium.
Supernatural Increase: November, 1999
The church began to experience a supernatural increase in its membership and doubled in size.
The Vision: January, 2000
God once again laid a vision on the heart of the Pastor to build a city. It seemed like once again New Destiny would do what seemed impossible for a small Ministry. A new building fund campaign was started for the City of Destiny and the people believed the word of their Pastor that it would not be long before the dream would become a reality.
Ground Breaking - City of Destiny: June, 2001
God once again showed Himself awesome to this young Ministry, and in June of 2001 New Destiny broke ground on the City of Destiny. Twenty-one acres of property dedicated to the work of the Lord. New Destiny celebrated another milestone on this day; we burned the mortgage for the land we were about to build the City on, setting the pace to build the City on a land that is “debt free.”
First Service in the City of Destiny: May, 2002
God once again showed himself real to this young Ministry as the City of Destiny officially opened for its first service. The new 2,000 seat auditorium was completed ahead of schedule, and a 5-year old church proved that age does not matter as long as God is on your side.
Phase 2 - Youth Building: April, 2004
The New Destiny family took another step in faith and broke ground on Phase 2 of the City of Destiny's Generation Next Youth Building. This building will include recreational and educational facilities for the next generation as well as a regulation size basketball court.
9th Year Anniversary & Youth Building Dedication: June, 2005
New Destiny celebrated its 9th Year Anniversary and along with Mayors of Orlando and Apopka with city officials, dedicated the 34,000 square foot, three-story Youth Building. The youth building is a community safe haven of recreation, inspiration, and education for young people. It includes a regulation size basketball court, fitness center, cafeteria, 300-seat Chapel, bowling alley, pool tables, video game and Internet Café, prayer counseling center, tutoring room, and classrooms. On December 5, 2005 -- Dr. Zachery Tims received his second Honorary Doctorate degree from St. Thomas Christian College.
No Limits Ministries: New Year 2006
As the Ministry propelled into the year 2006, the vision went forth to reach out to the community in an unprecedented move of God by becoming the first church in the history of Orlando to rent an 18,000 seat arena at the T.D. Waterhouse. Millions witnessed the presence of God as the New Year was simulcast live throughout the world with special guest Benny Hinn, Israel Houghton, many others.
